Of all the provincial cultures, Ulav nod is perhaps the one that most favours simple garments and patterns. Durability as well as protection from the sun, sand, and dust are of great importance.
Often they balance out the simple garbs with intricate beadwork, wraps or finely crafted jewellery - and decorations made by well-known artisans are quite a status symbol.
But people in Ulav nod are not just lovers of expert craftsmanship - in fact most people practice at least one type of craftsmanship. The simple act of making something simply for its own sake, rather than to achieve something is seen as something very virtuous.
